Kathryn Bigelow makes History at Oscars

We know that the Oscars for many people are all about what the celebrities will be wearing and as much as we look forward to the red carpet glitz and glam we are also excited about who walks away with an award. And this year’s 82nd Oscars Award was one award show worth getting excited about it did not disappoint.

We saw Kathryn Bigelow walk away with Best Director for The Hurt Locker, this is the first time the award has gone to a women making it a historical event.

"I'd love to just think of myself as a film-maker, and I long for the day when a modifier can be a moot point,…… But I'm ever grateful if I can inspire some young, intrepid, tenacious male or female film-maker and have them feel that the impossible is possible and to never give up on your dream."

This award can only give budding female directors the confidence to come forth with their work and hopefully pave the way for more female directors and hopefully highlight their skills to a very male dominated industry.

Also let’s not forget Mo’Nique who won Best Supporting Female Actress for her powerful portrayal of an abusive mother in Precious. And Sandra Bullock who won Best Actress for Leading Female Actress
