Contemporary artist Bharti Kher was born in 1969 in London, England. She has a BA Honours, Fine Art, Painting at the Foundation Course in Art & Design (Newcastle Polytechnic). And is currently living and working in New Delhi, India.
Over her career she has won a number of awards including the YFLO Woman Achiever of the Year (2007).
Her work encooperates painting, sculpture and installation. Many of which feature he use of bindis.

Women unite for the Art of Change - Ends 05.08.11
Art of Change - Commonwealth Art Exhibition for Women Artists from 18 JULY – 5 August 2011 at the Commonwealth Club Gallery.
Art of Change is an exciting visual arts exhibition by a rich diversity of women artists from all corners of the Commonwealth. The exhibition is in line with the 2011 theme of the Commonwealth of "Women as Agents of Change".

Shirin Neshat - Art in exile (via TedTalks)

Her latest project is an independent film titled Women Without Men. The story chronicles the intertwining lives of four Iranian women during the summer of 1953. During a recently TEDTalks session she tells of her life as a female artist, and artist in exile, the link of politics in her work.
