Empowering Women, Empowering Nations Conference - 25.11.11

 

the‘Empowering Women, Empowering Nations’ event is part of the African/Black History Month celebrations, the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Its theme is “The Role & Significance of Black Women in Changing the History of a Lost Generation”  -  aims to highlight the achievements and influences of African women who have been campaigning for a better world. 

A Female Hip-Hop Discussion Event 4th September.

PRO>CYPHER and BITCHESZINE Presents: A Female Hip-Hop Discussion. Pro>Cypher, is space for individuals who are involved in Hip-Hop Culture to network and share experiences. The event takes place on Saturday 4th September at Big Chill House, KingsCross, London from 18:30 - 19:30. 


This time were discussing about the contributions of women involved in hip-hop culture.

Where did all the Independent woman go?

The late 90's and early naughties gave us girl power with the likes of Spice Girls and Destiney's Child singing about Bills, bills, bills and Independent Women.
2010 however seems to have gone the complete reverse, the lyrics in Teairra Mari's new song intitled “Sponsor" talks about how the shoe's and jewellery she wears is brought by her man in this case her sponsor.
