Metro's Most Influential Women - Vote 04-17.03.11


The Metro newspaper (27/02/11) is running an influential women’s pole from March 4 to March 17, it will feature 40 photos of the women who have shaped the lives of generations in the past 100 years. They include figures from a number of diverse fields, such as politics, business, sport, the arts and science.

Together with the Greater London Authority and the Press Association, Metro is staging an exhibition at London’s City Hall to celebrate the centenary of International Women’s Day. Boris Johnson, the mayor of London, said: ‘I am delighted to stage this exciting exhibition to celebrate the centenary of International Women’s Day. The outstanding women featured provide a snapshot of the pivotal roles London’s women play in every part of the capital’s life.’

Those included have been listed for their groundbreaking contributions made in their fields such as; London-born singer-songwriter Leona Lewis, MIA (singer/rapper), Zadie Smith (Author), Vanessa-Mae (Violinist), Vivienne Westwood (Designer), Virginia Woolf (Author), and Tracey Emin (Artist).
